Dahlia 'Labyrinth' has gained many admirers since we first introduced it into the UK a few years ago. New in 2024 Flowers of dramatically rich red are carried on tall, strong stems. This variety was  part of the recent dahlia trial at RHS Wisley, where it garnered much attention for its stand-out presence. Flower size 4.5" (11cm) Height 40" (100cm) Pack of 3 tubers for £7.50

There is a suspicion that 'Honka Dark' and 'Verrone's Obsidian' may be one and the same. It will take DNA testing to reveal the truth but it was noticeable that the plants we grew of 'Honka Black' did appear slightly taller and the petals a little less furled than those of 'Verrones Obsidian'.  (not available this season). So, not much to call between them, but both excellent and unusual garden...

If you love the dark flowered dahlias, like 'Chat Noir' or 'Black Jack', but need something of smaller stature, this could be the answer.  'Tamburo is a scaled-down version of those dramatic giants and eminently more suited to front of border plantings.
