Yellow flowers flushed orange-red and with black anthers. The flowers have an attractive  narrow form, with pointed petals. Velvety blooms open faded rose-purple, with a lighter base. As the flowers mature, they darken to rich cassis, with the white flaming from the base giving the subtle bloom of a ripe victoria plum.  Flowering in late April/May at 20" (50cm). Warm copper-rose tones and fully double blooms make for a wonderful double early flowering tulip. It is also pictured here with 'Amazing Grace', which makes a great planting partner, flowering at the same time and height. A unique colour in tulips - there really is no other to compare to the deliciously pretty peach tones of 'Apricot Beauty'. Beautifully formed flowers of near-black have a rich, velvety sheen and undertones of burgundy-pink become visible with the light behind the petals. Sought-after old variety (dating from 1916) with neat flowers of cool, lavender-blue. It gave rise to the sport 'Blue Parrot' but is itself hard to come by now. We love to grow it with the dark 'Paul Scherer'. 'Bleu Aimable' has often been justly claimed to be the 'bluest' of the so-called 'blue' tulips, along with its sport 'Blue Parrot'.
